COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRIES
Target Hunger operates multiple Food Pantries that serve individuals and families who need food assistance in zip codes 77011, 77012, 77013, 77016, 77020, 77023, 77026, 77028, 77029, and 77078. Food Pantry clients receive a monthly distribution of nutritious groceries that includes fresh produce, protein and shelf-stable products.
For those that need Emergency Food Packs, Target Hunger provides an average of 265 portable, easy-to-prepare daypacks each month that contain calorie-dense food for people who are living without a permanent home or kitchen. Individuals are limited to one daypack every three months. Recipients do not need to be a registered Target Hunger client.
EDUCATIONAL FOOD FAIRS
Target Hunger hosts more than 50 Food Fairs at several locations from March through November each year. Recipients receive 30-40 pounds of healthy, fresh, seasonal produce. Clients benefit from education programs that connect the community with vital resources through participation with collaborating nonprofit organizations.
Implementation of this mobile shopping experience has been delayed by the pandemic. The mobile pantry, a climate-controlled walk-though grocery store, will allow Target Hunger to serve clients at low income apartment complexes and other locations that will accommodate clients who have transportation and/or childcare barriers to access.
During times of crisis and natural disasters, Target Hunger provides food relief to our community.
