Target Hunger Programs

Food Programs

We operate 5 Food Pantries that service individuals and families who need food assistance in zip codes 77016, 77020, 77026, 77028 and 77078.  In addition, we provide emergency food relief in times of crisis and natural disasters.  Target Hunger food pantry clients receive a distribution of  nutritious groceries, including proteins and fresh produce, once a month.  This supplemental grocery distribution is meant to cover the 5 to 7 day gap at the end of the month when SNAP (formerly food stamps) benefits have been exhausted.

Target Hunger hosts  Community / Educational Food Fairs each month at 4 of our food pantry locations.  In collaboration with the Houston Food Bank, the general public is invited to participate in mini-educational workshops on topics such as health and nutrition, safety, legal matters, and other informational topics.  Each participant is then provided with a healthy distribution of 30 to 40 pounds of fresh, seasonal produce.

The Breakfast Program at our Law Memorial Food Pantry provides a nutritious, hot breakfast every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to an average of more than 400 men, women and children each month.  Breakfast is served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and is open to the public.  Target Hunger's free breakfast program is located at Law Memorial Church of God in Christ at 4807 Wayne Street, Houston, TX 77026.
