Target Hunger Programs

First and foremost, Target Hunger is a hunger relief nonprofit organization. Our primary mission is to alleviate hunger by providing supplemental, nutritious groceries to people who might otherwise not be able to feed themselves and their families.

Research shows that SNAP (formerly food stamps) benefits run out by the third week of the month.  Our food pantry programs are designed to fill those last few days when SNAP benefits have been completely exhausted.

Target Hunger recognizes that hunger is almost always related to income, or rather lack thereof. People are not hungry by choice.  Many food insecure individuals are among the unemployed or underemployed, the elderly or the disabled.

They may have difficulty finding and keeping a job due to issues of childhood abuse, addiction or mental health conditions.  Many others work for low hourly wages in positions with incomes that are very dramatically affected by inclement weather.  Still others may not have the technology skill sets necessary to compete in today’s workplace.

At Target Hunger we take care of the most basic of human needs first – we feed people - and then we offer programs that are designed to move clients along the path to self-sufficiency.
